A beach in North beach WA. The house was designed by Banham architects, Perth WA and built by Grange construction. The project brief was to select the fixed finishes for the internal design of the house and select all new furniture, artwork and furnishings. Photography art was commissioned for the dining room wall as a feature for the room. The interior of the house has been designed to fit with a modern beach house feel as the house is located overlooking the WA Indian Ocean.

The living room is open plan to the kitchen and dining making it a sociable and inviting space. The entertainment cabinet veneer was selected for a light oak beach house feel and the oak table to selected to connect. The brief was for dining chairs that can be wipeable for children to use as there are plenty of grandchildren visiting the house! The dining chairs are the classic and original Eames side chairs.

The brief for the feature artwork was for something striking as a feature piece to the open plan space. My clients also wanted something that they could personally connect with where memories were held. I have always been a huge fan of photography art and this house is a house located on the WA coast an area where my clients have spent most of their lives, bringing up their children and now grandchildren. I felt the theme of the modern beach house and the local area which is close to their hearts would fit well for their feature artwork. The natural colours of the WA coastline from areal view are striking yet natural, something I wanted to keep in the house for an earthy feel. We commissioned Tony Hewitt, a local and very talented photographer to go up into the sky and take some shots of the areas where my clients hold very fond memories, he produced these wonderful pieces. The circular mount was a look I wanted to tie into the modern feel of the room with the circular pendant above the table etc. Keeping the look crisp and modern but with character. Tony accommodated the artwork to suit this look, it was great team work and the end result brought the room to life!
